Michigan wins seventh straight, edging Iowa 85-83

A goaltending call on a Roddy Gayle Jr. layup attempt with 3.2 seconds left gave Michigan an 85-83 win against Iowa on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.Pryce Sandfort’s last-second fadeaway 3-pointer clanged off the rim for the Hawkeyes. Teammate Payton Sandfort caught fire down the stretch. The senior forward shot 0-for-9 from the field in the first half, yet hit two late 3-pointers, the latter tying the game at 83 with 20 seconds left.Vladislav Goldin posted a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds as Michigan (8-1, 2-0 Big Ten) won its seventh straight.The Wolverines’ Danny Wolf also had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Tre Donaldson tallied 18 points and five assists, Gayle Jr. added 17 points and Will Tschetter added 13 points.Payton Sandfort led Iowa (7-2, 1-1) with 19 points, while Pryce Sandfort and Josh Dix each scored 16. Owen Freeman added 13 and Drew Thelwell chipped in 10.Early on, Michigan looked like it would run away with the game. Donaldson punctuated an 8-2 run to open the game with a 3-pointer. The Wolverines then rattled off a 12-4 run and held a 20-6 lead at the first media timeout.
