Great Osobor helps Washington hold off UMass Lowell

Great Osobor scored 23 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds as Washington pulled out a 74-69 victory against visiting UMass Lowell on Sunday night in a nonconference game in Seattle.Tyler Harris, Zoom Diallo and Tyree Ihenacho each scored 12 points, and Luis Kortright added 10 for the Huskies (3-1).Yuri Covington led the River Hawks (2-2) with 19 points and Quinton Mincey contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds. Cam Morris III scored 13 before fouling out with 5:25 remaining and Max Brooks scored 10 despite playing just 18 minutes because of foul trouble.The Huskies won despite shooting just 37 percent from the field, while the River Hawks made 44.6 percent of their attempts. Both teams were 17-of-26 from the free-throw line and struggled from distance, with UMass Lowell going 2-of-16 from 3-point range and the Huskies 3-of-16. The UW enjoyed a 53-34 rebounding edge, which led to a 25-12 advantage in second-chance points.The River Hawks fared much better than Friday, when they lost 113-54 to No. 4 Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash.Martin Somerville’s driving layup with 12:27 left gave the River Hawks a 44-42 lead, their first since midway through the first half.A 3-pointer by Ihenacho broke a 53-all tie with 7:40 remaining and gave the Huskies the lead for good.The River Hawks trailed just 63-60 after a jumper by Covington with 5:47 left, but they went scoreless over the next 4:31 as Washington extended its lead to nine points, the Huskies’ largest of the game.
